Welcome Freshmen

Dear A-TECH 9th Grade Parents and Students,

Things are coming into focus a little bit more every day as we move towards August 24 and the first day of virtual school. Please review the updates below, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Freshmen Virtual Orientations – August 4
Unfortunately, it is not possible to begin your A-TECH journey with us in person, but we are looking forward to creating a brand-new Freshman Virtual Orientation experience. Instead of a single, in-person event, we will be providing several opportunities to learn about A-TECH over the next few weeks. Our first event is a Freshmen Welcome Student Orientation Tuesday, August 4, at 11:00 am or 1:00 pm based on your program area (see below). New students will be welcomed by A-TECH’s Magnet Recruiter, Ms. Vallari, and Principal, Mr. Synold. Students will learn about A-TECH traditions, academics, CTE, and orientation program. If you are unable to attend your program time, you may attend to the other session. The sessions will be recorded and posted on atech.org as well. Each session will last approximately one hour.

Note: Students have been invited through their Google Calendar.

Future online events are being developed and will include the following: The First Day of School, Extracurricular Activities, Virtual Classroom Environment, A Guide to Success for Parents, and online Q & As with Student Ambassadors and A-TECJ staff. Stay tuned for more information, and we look forward to seeing all our new Mavericks online August 4.

Online Registration (OLR)
Online Registration (OLR) in Infinite Campus is required each year so that contact information can remain up-to-date. Without an updated ORL, student Google accounts will be deactivated and devices cannot be distributed. See the attachment for directions on completing this required process in Infinite Campus.

Chromebook Distribution
Chromebook distribution will take place on Thursday, August 6th, from 7:30 – 9:30 AM for students who have requested a device. Park in the bus parking lot (the large entrance by the basketball courts off Robin Street). Walk to the A-TECH main entrance, and we will direct you to the distribution area. Please maintain social distancing and wear a mask.

A parent with identification needs to be present in order to sign CCSD’s Acceptable Use Policy (full agreement attached). Only students who have completed the OLR process in Infinite Campus will be able to pick up a Chromebook.

Do you still have a Chromebook from your middle school? Please contact your school to return it, as A-TECH cannot accept Chromebooks from other school sites.

Questions? Please contact Assistant Principal, Jeff Rispin, at rispij@nv.ccsd.net.

Low-Cost Internet Options
Please review the attachment, Low Cost Internet, for different Internet options. Please note that A-TECH is considered a CEP school. This will help expedite Internet through Cox.

Class Fees Waived
Please disregard any class fees mentioned in the 2020-21 A-TECH Course Catalog posted on our website. We are waiving class fees due to instruction being online. PE uniforms will be required if we return to in-person instruction.

Thank you for your patience and flexibility. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and I look forward to seeing our newest Mavericks online next week.

Jonathan Synold
