Maverick for A Day Program


Current 8th grade students who are interested in one or more of our Magnet Programs may spend a day “shadowing” an A-TECH Student Ambassador. The Maverick for a Day Student Shadow Program allows prospective 8th grade students to spend a few hours attending classes with an A-TECH Ambassador in a program of interest.

Student shadows must have their own transportation. Shadows should be in the main office at the main office at 7:15 am and picked-up from the main office at 1:00 pm.

A shadow day is an opportunity for a prospective student to experience a typical day as an A-TECH student; then decide if A-TECH is a good fit for his/her educational goals. The student shadow will attend program and core classes, eat lunch in the cafeteria, and even participate in some class activities. Parents may take a walk-through of the school and have any questions addressed at 1:00 pm, on the date your child shadows.

*Block Day schedule – student shadows will visit 4 classes; at least one will be a program class

Please note that you may opt-in to a parent Q&A session at 1:00 pm, on the date your child shadows.

If your child would like to be a “Maverick For a Day”, select a date from the list above then email your request to me ( with your preferred date and child’s program interest. As it takes quite some time to arrange schedules, please select a shadow date that provides at least a two-day notice. I will make the arrangements and confirm the shadow date via email.
