Q: My student was selected and we accepted his/her seat, what do I do now?
Please be patient. You will receive a welcome email from Ms. Vallari. The welcome email will be sent to all parents/guardians and students to the email addresses listed in the online application system. They will be sent in “waves” on Wednesday, March 11 and Thursday, March 12, 2020. This welcome email will contain all the information so that you can take the “next steps”. It will (hopefully) answer all your questions – about registration, transportation, class selection, requesting lockers, and sport participation, etc.

Q: I have my lottery results, but I don’t know what they mean, please explain.
There are three possible results from the lottery: selected, alternate pool, and not qualified. Further explanation for each result is below.

The student was selected into the program/school as indicated. You may accept or decline the seat through the online application system. If you ACCEPT the seat, the student will attend that program/school for the 2020-2021 school year. Accepting a seat automatically declines all other choices (selected, alternate pool, late). The deadline to accept a seat is Thursday, March 5, 2020 at 11:59 pm. All applicants who have not accepted their seat by the deadline will have it automatically declined in the online system.

The alternate pool is comprised of students who were not selected during the lottery and have NOT accepted a seat to another magnet/CTA/select school. A-TECH usually fills all seats through the lottery. In the rare event that a seat becomes available, that seat is filled by the CCSD Magnet Office using a random selection process from all candidates in the alternate pool. If a student is selected to a magnet program from the alternate pool, the online application system will notify the parent/guardian via email about the change in lottery status, and the school will telephone the parent/guardian directly. A student may be selected through the alternate pool process until Friday, August 21, 2020.

Academic Qualification is required for all STEM Programs. A NOT QUALIFIED result indicates that the student did not academically qualify to attend the program/school; and that the student was not placed in the lottery pool. The STEM Qualification Criteria is below. If you believe there was an error in qualification, please contact Ms. Vallari at 702-799-7870, ext-4078 or
